The Six Ps

The armed forces have a slightly rude version of this but for our purposes we will refer to the six P’s as:

  • Prior
  • Planning and┬áPreparation
  • Prevents
  • Pretty
  • Poor
  • Performance

And we need to know how to apply this to our search for the perfect IT job.

The key is to start at the endpoint and work our way backwards. What would our ultimate role be in say, five year time? What skills and abilities would we need to be able to do this job or role? What qualifications would we need? Where would we be working?

If we fail to establish our goal then we have no destination whatsoever and cannot prepare. Lack of preparation will lead to a pretty poor performance.
